How the order is set

A short method, applied the same way to all ten.

Principle one: the stay decides

Every property is looked at as a hotel first. We weigh its location, its architecture, its rooms and what lies within an easy walk. The casino is noted as one amenity among several and is never the reason a hotel rises or falls.

Principle two: words instead of numbers

You will not find points, stars or averaged guest reviews on this site. The order reflects editorial judgement, and we explain that judgement in plain sentences rather than compressing it into a figure.

Principle three: no money involved

Placement cannot be bought by a hotel, a chain or an agency. There is no commission, no affiliate code and no booking engine behind any link.

The checklist we use

AreaWhat we look for
LocationIs the place itself worth travelling to, and what can you reach without a car?
ArchitectureDoes the building, its history or its design give the stay a real identity?
RoomsSpace, outlook and how much quality varies between towers or wings.
AmenitiesPools, dining, spa, gardens, shows — the things you would enjoy even if you never saw the gaming floor.
FitThe type of traveller the hotel suits, spelled out in each "Best for" note.

Keeping it current

We revisit the list on a regular cycle and also whenever a property announces something significant, such as a major refurbishment, a rebrand or a closure. The month shown above the list tells you when the entries were last reviewed.
